Glaucoma is the second leading cause of irreversible blindness in the world, and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) is the most common form, it is defined as optic neuropathy that is characterized by typical optic nerve head changes with corresponding visual field (VF) defects. The aim of study Comparison of outcomes subtenon Mitomycin C Injection Versus soaked sponges mitomycin C application in Deep Sclerectomy. Methods: In this double-blind randomized clinical trial study, 40 eyes from 34 patients with open-angle glaucoma were included in the study and randomly divided into two groups. Patients underwent non- penetrating deep sclerectomy surgery from 1397 to 1398. In subtenon injection group (DSI) patients received subtenon injection of 0.1 ml of 0.2 mg / ml mitomycin C solution and in soaked sponges mitomycin C group ( DSS ) mitomycin C applicated with soaked sponges 0.2 mg / ml for 3 minutes. Intraocular pressure was evaluated as the main outcome Results: 40 eyes of 34 patients with open-angle glaucoma were examined in two groups. Of the 34 patients studied, 76.5% were male and 23.5% were female. Patients were randomly divided into two groups. 20 eyes of 18 patients underwent non- penetrating deep sclerectomy with mitomycin C applicated soaked sponges (DSS group) and 20 eyes of 16 patients underwent non- penetrating deep sclerectomy with subtenon injection mitotomycin c (DSI group). In most cases, the rate of IOP reduction in the DSI group was greater than the DSS group, although the difference between the two groups was not significant (p> 0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the success rate of surgery (complete, partial success and failure), bleb morphology and surgical complications in 6-month follow-upen_US
