Abundance of foot and ankle pain and its determinant factors in the adults referred to the outpatient clinic of physical medicine and rehabilitation in 2020-2021
Abstract
Foot pain is one of the most important factors that has a significant impact on mobility and health status of people. The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of pain and disorders of the foot and ankle and its determining factors in adults referred to the outpatient clinic of physical medicine and rehabilitation in 2020-2021.
Methods: The present study was a descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study. The target population was all adults 18 years and older referred to outpatient clinics of physical medicine and rehabiliting of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Sampling was done randomly and available and 460 people were selected. In this study, Foot and Ankle disability index was used to evaluate foot and ankle pain. Also, demographic-therapeutic information of patients was collected through a general profile questionnaire including personal information and medical information, through face-to-face interviews. Data were analyzed using non-parametric chi-square test (chi-square or chi-square) and Spearman correlation coefficient.
Results: The sample of the present study included 460 adults referred to the outpatient clinic of physical medicine and rehabilitation in 1399, which in terms of gender included 384 women (83.5%) and 76 men (16.5%) and the average age of 57/08. The results showed that the three variables of education (p-value: 0.025), job (p-value: 0.001) and the need to use painkillers (p-value: 0.004) are factors related to foot and ankle disorders. The findings also showed that there was a significant relationship between age (p-value: 0.001) and body mass index (p-value: 0.001) with foot and ankle disorders.
