Cesarean section is one of the most common surgeries in midwifery. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the complications of cesarean section and determine the effective factors in reducing these complications. The aim of this study was to compare the niche (scar of cesarean section on the uterus) in two methods of continuous and intermittent repair of cesarean section. Materials and Methods : In the present clinical trial study, 70 primer women who were candidates for elective cesarean section in Alzahra and Taleghani educational centers of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in 1398, were randomly divided into two groups: continuous and intermittent repair. Mothers of both groups went to the hospital 30 days after surgery to follow up and examine the surgical site and diagnosis of niche, underwent uterine examination and ultrasound, and the obtained data were recorded and analyzed. Results : Out of 70 patients included in the study (35 in each group), the mean age of patients in the Interrupted group was 27.08 + 4.38 years and Continuous was 26.77 + 4.98 years. In the interrupted suture group, 7 patients (20%) and in the continuous suture group, 12 patients (34.3%) had Niche ( a wedge defect larger than or equal to two millimeters ), which was not statistically significant. The mean Niche size of patients in the Interrupted group was 2.50 + 2.42 mm and in the Continuous group was 2.90 + 2.63 mm, which was not statistically different (p = 0.493). The mean residual myometrial thickness in patients with Niche was lower in the Interrupted suture group than continuous suture group ( 7.57 + 3.45 mm vs. 8.66 + 3.36 mm; p = 0.507 ).en_US
