Evaluation of diagnostic accuracy of MRI in the diagnosis of acute fractures of the odontoid process

Abstract

odontoid fracture the most fracture of the axis bone.ct scan is the best modalite of evaluation of odontoid fracture.bone bruise in odontoid fracture is use to recognase acute and chronic fracture. Materials & Method:30 pation with odontoid fracture refer to emam reza hospitle in 1398 underwent to ct scan and mri. Pations are divided to two type.16 pation type 3 and 14 pation type 2 odotoid fracture.BB are seen in 50% type 2 odontoid fracture and 81/25% type 3 odontoid fracture.fracture line and cord complication and ligamental complication more common type 3 odontoid fracture. The data statistical analysis was performed using the chi-squared test for differences in proportion and measure,t-test for differences and analysed with Graph Pad Prism Results:edema in type 3 odontoid fracture is more common than type 2 odontoid fracture. in general, in type 2 odontoid fractures in 7 patients (50%) and in type 3 odontoid fractures in 13 patients (25.81%) edema was seen which in statistical analysis was P = 0.06 which was not statistically significant.
