dc.description.abstractcongenital malformations are the most common cause of infants mortality. Congenital gastrointestinal malformations are one of the variable anomalies that there is not available accurate information about their epidemiology in our country. This study was conducted to investigate the congenital malformations at Tabriz University of medical sciences. Method: 581 biopsy proven children with Congenital gastrointestinal malformations who were admitted to Tabriz children hospital from year 91 to 96 included in this study. Symptoms and concomitant malformations was evaluated. 61 patients voluntarily followed for 1 year after admission and early complications was evaluated. Results: Congenital gastrointestinal malformations were common in boys(62.6%). 54% of mothers had NVD. The majority of cases had term pregnancy(79.8%). Hirschsprung was commonest congenital gastrointestinal malformations(41.3%). Cardiovascular malformations were commonest concomitant malformations and main cause of morbidity and mortality. in the short term follow up of the congenital gastrointestinal malformations, they did not have a significant effect on the growth parameters.en_US
