dc.description.abstractPreoperative anemia is common in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Preoperative anemia is an important and independent risk factor for preoperative transfusion which is associated with mortality. Intravenous iron injection is a suitable option for correction. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of ferric carboxylate maltose with iron sucrose in patients with iron deficiency anemia undergoing cardiac surgery and the effect on transfusion rate. Materials and Methods: Our study is a clinical trial، comparative، without blinding to evaluate the efficacy of ferric carboxymaltose with iron sucrose in the correction of preoperative anemia in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. 66 patients with iron deficiency anemia undergoing cardiac surgery Conditions. They randomly received injectable iron carboxylate maltose or iron sucrose 3 to 5 weeks before surgery. Changes in hemoglobin levels and iron metabolism indices were measured before surgery and 3 to 5 days after surgery. The rate of transfusion of patients during and after surgery and the length of hospital stay were assessed. Results: Serum ferritin level in the group receiving ferric carboxy maltose injection iron showed a significant difference compared with the iron sucrose group (592.6 ± 206 vs 390 ± 186.5 ng / dl) (p value <0.05) and at the level of hemoglobin between There was no significant difference between the two ferric carboxylate groups compared to the iron sucrose group (12.6 ± 1.3 vs 12.2 ± 1.1 g / dl) (p value> 0.05). The amount of transfusion was not the same between the two groups and no significant difference was observed (p value > 0.05) Conclusion: There was no significant difference in hemoglobin concentration and transfusion rate between the two groups receiving ferric carboxy maltose and the group receiving iron sucrose. Bleeding bleeding occurs during surgery. It is so high that we see a drop in hemoglobin during surgery and patients are forced to transfuse blood during surgery. However، an increase in iron stores was observed in both groups and they were significantly different from each other. Ferric carboxy maltose is a single dose and it is possible to inject 1000 mg of ferric carboxy maltose at a time for the patient and compared to Irene sucrose، side effects and drug sensitivity are much less reported and are associated with patient satisfaction.en_US
