dc.description.abstractOrofacial clefts can occur as an isolated defect or as a manifestation of other syndromes. Several studies were done all over the world to evaluate the Orofacial clefts and estimation it distribution and accompanying syndromes. This study aimed to evaluate demographic characteristics and accompanying anomalies in patients with orofacial clefts. Methods: In this retrospective study, patients with cleft lip, cleft palate and cleft lip and palate were evaluated. Demographic characteristics were assessed. Accompanying anomalies and syndromes were collect in the data form. Results: A total of 1500 patients with cleft were assessed that 441 of them had cleft lip, 615 patients had cleft palate and 444 of them had cleft lip and palate. Positive family history for cleft hip was 20.86% for cleft lip, 21.95% for cleft palate and 24.54% for cleft lip and palate. Totally, 330 patients (22%) had accompanying anomaly that cardiac anomaly (16.67%), oral (4.40%), ear (2.47%), limbs (1.47%) and thyroid (1.27%) were most common. Moreover, 2.93% of patients had an accompanying syndrome. Patients with syndrome were including 25 patients with cleft palate, 16 patients with cleft lip and palate and 3 patients with cleft lip. Pierre Robin Sequence, Velo-cardio-facial syndrome, and Down syndrome were the most frequently.en_US
