The Predictive Value of M.REMS and NTS Score in Hospital Outcome of Elderly Patient with Traffic Accident

Abstract

Purpose: in this research, the purpose was to examine predicting value of M.REMS and NTS scores in hospital outcome of the elder patients with traffic accidents. Method: the statistical population of the present study included 243 injured people in traffic accidents over 65 years old whose information was recorded in the system of traffic accidents since the beginning of Oct 2019 till the end of Sep 2020. In order to determine the predicting value of M.REMS and NTS score in the elder patients with traffic accidents, logistic regression analysis was used. Findings: the results of the analysis indicated that mREMS in male patients showed significant difference. Also, the ratio of OR in these patients was calculated 1.5 (p-value <0.05). Such that for each unit of increase in mREMS score, the chance of hospitalization in male patients increased 50%. Also, mREMS in female patients did not show significant difference. Furthermore, the results of the analysis indicated that NTS in male patients showed significant difference. Also, the ratio of OR in these patients was calculated 0.97 (p-value <0.05). Such that for each unit of increase in NTS score, the chance of hospitalization in male patients decreased % 0.03. Also, NTS in female patients did not show significant difference.
