Abstract
Acute mesenteric ischemia is a life-threatening disease and one of the most important surgical emergencies with abdominal pain referred to the emergency department. Clinical examination of these patients revealed abdominal tenderness and rebond tenderness more than any other. The causes of acute abdominal surgery are not obvious. The aim of this study was to evaluate the severity of mesenteric ischemia based on increased cellular changes and inflammatory factors. Materials and Methods: This study is a prospective descriptive-randomized follow-up. Patients undergoing laparotomy (group I or case group) after laboratory or radiologic diagnostic procedures with mesenteric ischemia (group I or case group), RDW laboratory findings, other hematologic coordinates, and bicarbonate with group Controls (patients who had a final diagnosis of non-ischemic mesenteric laparotomy) were compared. In this study, gold is considered a diagnostic standard for laparotomy and findings for laparotomy. RDW as an indicator of CBC indicates changes in red blood cell size in the circulation. Abdominal CT scan findings are recorded in a questionnaire if performed and reported by an esteemed radiologist. Finally, the extent and severity of gangrene during laparotomy is stated. Results: CRP has a sensitivity of 79.3% and specificity of 50.0%, LDH has a sensitivity of 91.7% and a specificity of 37.5%. RDW also has a sensitivity of 71.1% and a specificity of 72.2 %. WBC has a sensitivity of 47.2% and a specificity of 26.1%.
