dc.description.abstract | The biomechanical evaluation of natural tooth implant splint and comparison with implant cantilevers in the anterior region under fatigue tests
Objectives: Replacement of lost teeth can be done in several ways. This study aimed to reconstruct the pre-maxillary conditions when there is a limited number of implants and to study the biomechanics of the two methods available to dentists (Splinting natural teeth to implants and using a cantilever) for use in these conditions.
Material and methods: In this experimental-laboratory study, 8 bridge samples were prepared in two groups. Four newly extracted healthy central teeth with approximately the same size with a maximum of 20% difference in size along the root and crown length were selected for dental abutment. After preparing the samples, the temporal retention of temp bond cement was measured with a universal test machine at a speed of 0.5 mm/min for both samples. The amount of torque opening of the abutments was measured by a digital torque meter before and after the fatigue test. SPSS.21 statistical software was used for data analysis.
Results: Comparison of two types of prostheses before and after periodic loading showed that the amount of torque for loosening the abutment screw before force is the same in two types of splint prostheses and cantilever prostheses. But, after applying a force of 200 N, the amount of torque in the splinted prosthesis with a value of 19.75±1.70 is significantly higher than the cantilever prosthesis with a value of 12.1±5. 73 (p <0.05).
Conclusions: In general, in vitro, Dental-implant prosthesis is better supported than cantilever prostheses. | en_US |
