Abstract
Since taking rivaroxaban (oral) is easier than enoxaparin (subcutaneous injection) and is more welcomed by the patient, as well as the lack of detailed information about the results of using rivaroxaban (because this drug has just arrived in Iran). We decided to conduct the present study with the aim of comparing the effects of injectable enoxaparin with oral rivaroxaban in the prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients with peritrochanteric femoral fracture. The purpose of this study is to find out which of the two drugs is more effective, less complication and more desirable to prevent DVT? Materials and Methods: This randomized single-blind clinical trial study of 88 patients with femoral peritrochanteric fracture was performed in shohada Hospital during 2019. The participants were randomly allocated to two groups including enoxaparin (44 patients, 40 mg subcutaneously once daily for 28 days) and rivaroxaban (44 patients, 10 mg orally once daily for 28 days). The results of tests, clinical examinations and ultrasonography for the diagnosis of DVT at the end of the intervention were compared between the two groups with independent t-test in SPSS 20. P-value of less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results: The results showed that no significant statistical differences were observed in laboratory studies and DVT-related symptoms between the two groups as well as before and after the intervention (intragroup). Also, the prevalence of DVT after the end of the study was zero.
