The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of intravenous ceftriaxone in neurological outcome of acute spinal cord injury patients compared with methylprednisolone alone. Materials and Methods: Spinal cord injury patients aged 18-60 years old and spinal cord injuries based on ASIA were randomly divided into two groups A and B. Patients were randomly assigned into one of the two intervention and control groups. Group A (Case group) was used in addition to routine treatments, such as methylprednisolone + ceftriaxone (with specified dosage and the specified time and specified period) protocols. Group B (control or control group) received routine therapies such as methylprednisolone protocols. Before entering the study, the sensory level and muscle strength of patients in both groups were measured according to ASIA and after the onset of treatment on the first day and on day three and on the seventh day and the first day of the 14th and the first and third months of the muscle and sensory level in terms of ASIA grading Measured. Results: Comparison of CRP changes on day 1 and day 4 and 8 between the two groups was statistically significant (p=0.001). Comparisons of ESR changes between day 1 and day 4 and 8 were not significantly different between the two groups (p=0.073). There was a significant difference between the two groups in terms of ASIA grade compared to the time of admission and 6 months after discharge between the two groups (p=0.001).en_US
