| dc.description.abstract | In patients with nasal polyposis, the first complication is decreased sense of smell. On the other hand, the sense of smell is the first variable that is affected in nasal polypectomy surgeries as well as in cases of recurrence of polyposis. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the olfactory reduction in recurrence of polyposis and compare it with other symptoms.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, patients with recurrence of polyposis after endoscopic surgery referred to the ENT clinic of Sina Hospital in Tabriz were evaluated according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Based on therapeutic indications, CT-Scan patients had paranasal sinuses at the beginning of the study. Then, patients were prepared a special form related to olfactory function with four clinical signs and its severity.
findings:. The mean age of patients was 36.86. 11.75 years and the majority of 35 patients (70.0%) were male. Out of 50 patients, recurrence of the right nasal cavity was 34 (68.0%) and recurrence of the left nasal cavity was 28 (56.0%). Minor accompanying symptoms of patients are: 28 (45.2%) sputum, 14 (23.0%) cough, 1 (1.6%) ear congestion, 7 (11.3%) sore throat And 12 (19.4%) were asymptomatic.
