The present study was designed and conducted to compare the prevalence of locoregionl recurrence between conventional and hypofractional radiotherapy of breast cancer. Materials and Methods: In this semi-experimental study, all patients with a history of radiotherapy for breast cancer who referred to Shahid Madani and International Tabriz Hospitals March 2006 to March 2021 were included. Information including time of initial visit, initial pathology, number of radiotherapy sessions, adjuvant or neoadjuvant, time of recurrence, type of recurrence and pathological confirmation of recurrence in patients were evaluated. Results: In the present study, out of 791 patients who underwent radiotherapy, 21 patients (2.65%) had locoregionl recurrence. Out of 648 patients who received conventional radiotherapy, 16 patients (2.46%) and out of 143 patients who received hypofractional radiotherapy, 5 patients (3.49%) had recurrence. There was no significant difference between patients in the two groups in terms of type of recurrence (P = 0.22), pathology confirmation (P = 0.68), neo adjuvant and adjuvant treatment (P = 0.58). The mean time interval till recurrence in the conventional radiotherapy was significantly higher than the hypofractional radiotherapy (39.81 vs. 13.40 with P = 0.03).en_US
