dc.description.abstract | The aim of this prospective study is to investigate the effect of thyroid hormone levels in STEMI patients on admit on the PPCI success which is measured by ST resolution.
METHODOLOGY
A total number of 500 patients with STEMI who underwent PPCI were enrolled in our study. On arrival to the ED, venous blood samples were taken and sent to laboratory.ECGs were also taken on admission and 60minutes after PPCI and STR measured. Patients were divided in two groups:1st one patients with STR<50% and the 2nd one those with STR>50%.The relationship between thyroid hormones with STR,mortality and MACE was investigated.
RESULTS
Among patients 401(80.2%)were male and 99 (19.8%) were female which was statistically significant (P<0.001). The mean age was 32/11 ± 22/57 .152 patients (30.4%) were in the 1st group & 348 pts (69.6%) were in 2nd one. The mean FT4 in the 1st group was 16.76± 12.37 & in 2nd one was 15.93±8.84 which was insignificant(P=0.06). On the other hand, evaluation of the association between FT4 & response to therapy showed no effect(p=0.55)
The mean FT3 was 4.97±2.05 in the 1st & 4.87±1.87 in the 2nd group which was not significant statistically(P=0.18). No significant association found between FT3 level & response to therapy(P=0.46). The mean TSH was 1.52±1.35 &1.79±1.62 in the 1st & 2nd groups respectively(P=0.08). No significant association found between TSH level & response to therapy(P=0.17). Statistical evaluation showed no association between hypothyroidism with response to therapy, mortality and MACE(P=0.42,0.32,0.59). Also low FT3 had no significant effect on mortality & MACE(P=0.48,0.81). | en_US |
