dc.description.abstractAbstract Background: The need to protect privacy is one of the examples of respect for basic human rights and privacy is a fundamental principle of humanity and one of the fundamental human rights that has been emphasized in patients. But the evidence shows that this privacy is not respected by medical staff. Due to the importance of this issue, this study was conducted to compare the level of patient privacy from the perspective of patients and medical staff in the emergency department of Tabriz hospitals in 1397-1397. Methods: The present study was a descriptive cross-sectional study that was performed on 240 hospitalized patients and 140 nurses working in the emergency department of Tabriz hospitals in 1398. Samples were selected using stratified random sampling method and entered into the study. Data collection tools included a questionnaire of personal and social characteristics and a questionnaire of privacy from the perspective of patients and from the perspective of medical staff of the emergency department. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software version 21 and descriptive statistics (frequency distribution tables, central indices and dispersion) and analytical statistics (independent t-test and ANOVA). Results: The results of the study showed that the mean total score of patient privacy from the perspective of patients was about 36.08 04 6.04 and at a weak level and from the perspective of medical staff about 42.84 61 4.61 and at a moderate level. Be. Independent t-test showed a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of privacy from the perspective of patients and medical staff (P <0.05). Discussion and Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that the level of patient privacy from the patients 'point of view is lower than the medical staff and this can negatively affect patients' satisfaction with the quality of services provided. . Therefore, it is necessary to make the necessary arrangements by the managers and officials of medical centers in order to educate and familiarize medical staff with respect for privacy and the Charter of Patients 'Rights, as well as applying regulations to oblige medical staff to respect patients' privacy.en_US
