Due to the limitations of ultrasound, such as being dependent on the operator, reducing its sensitivity and specificity in certain conditions (severe obesity, etc.) and technical problems and the need for an appropriate imaging method that does not have the mentioned limitations and also the lack of studies. The aim of the present study was to match the sonographic and MRI findings in phase and ın out of phase sequences in different grades of fatty liver. Material and methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in the radiology department of Imam Reza (AS) Hospital located in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. All patients that refered for abdominal MRI for any reason, the status of signal changes in in phase and out of phase sequences was assessed by a radiologist and then matched with laboratory and ultrasound findings for the presence of fatty liver. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 24 and Medcalc softwares. Results: In the present study, 120 patients were studied. The sensitivity and specificity of signal loss in MRI for the diagnosis of grade 1, 2 and 3 in ultrasound are equal to grade 1: 94.6%, 50.6% with cut off more than 3% (signal loss 3 to 17%), grade 2: 95.2%, 76.8% with cut off more than 17% (signal drop 17 to 28%) and grade 3: 100%, 91.4% with cut off more than 28%. On the other hand, there was a significant relationship between signal loss and ultrasound grade (P <0.05).en_US
