Abstract An eye exam to check for retinopathy is one of the painful procedures Which causes physiological and behavioral changes due to pain in infants.Multisensory stimulation is a potent analgesic and has been shown to have a calming effect on infants during painful procedures Therefore, this study was performed to determine the effect of a multisensory stimulation care program On the amount of pain caused by eye examination in infants with retinopathy. The present study is a randomized controlled clinical trial. In this clinical trial, 50 infants who met the criteria for ocular examination; Were randomly assigned to two groups. In the intervention group ,The multisensory stimulation program was performed during the eye examination and the control group did not receive any extra intervention. The pain score of each infant was recorded at intervals of 5 minutes before, during and 5 minutes after eye examination with NIPS pain measuring instrument. Data analysis showed that there was a significant difference in pain scores between the intervention and control groups. Implementing a multisensory stimulation program reduces the severity of pain in infants during the eye examination process.en_US
