Basal Cell Carcinoma(BCC) is the one of the most common skin cancer world wide. It affects sun-exposed areas of the body and its malignant character depends on local invasion rather than metastasis. Surgical approaches have been used to treat BCC as astandard treatment. However patients frequently present with difficult to treat BCC because of the lession itself or codition of the patient or both. Alternative treatment methods should be consider for these patients. Cupressus Sempervirens is an orantamental plant that have been used in traditional medicine. Recently anti prolifrating and cytotoxic activity of its extract have been shown in some studies. The purpose of this study was to evaluate cytotoxic activity of this plant extract on primary cultured BCC cells. Methods: BCC tissue was obtained of a patient ofter receiving the ethical approval and cells were isolated from these tissue in primary cultures. Cultures were confirmed by CD10 Flowcytometry and then we induced BCC in 22 nude mice by sub cutaneous injection in two group treated with Cupressus Sempervirens extract and non treated .after 7 days we excited the tumoral mass and evaluated it by hematoxylin and eosin staining and immunohistochemicah endothelial marker CD31 ,basal epithelial marker CD10and prolifration marker Ki67. Results: Cupressus Sempervirens extract signifivantly inhibited BCC formation in treated group.36 % of treated group had complet regression . H&E demonstrated the density of tumoral cells decreased in treated group and there was noticible inflamatory infiltration in treated group. immunohistochemicah showed lower expresion of CD31,CD10 and Ki67 in treated group.en_US
