Due to the fact that opioids have several side effects, and on the other hand NSAIDs have better therapeutic effects than opioids in reducing pain and fewer side effects, so the aim of this study was to compare the effects of ketrolac and pethidine on Pain syndrome in patients with elective laparotomy leads to colectomy. Materials and Methods: In this randomized clinical trial study, 100 patients who were candidates for laparotomy surgery leading to colectomy were enrolled in the study. The patients were divided into two groups and the intervention began one hour after surgery. Ketrolac 30 mg every 6 hours + pethidine 25 mg every 12 hours and in the other group pethidine 50 mg every 8 hours for patients and the severity of pain and complications after surgery were recorded between the two groups and with independent t-tests in SPSS23 software. Were compared. Results: The intensity of pain per day in the intervention group was significantly lower than the intensity of pain in the control group (P=0.046); There was no statistically significant difference in the number of complications after surgery between the two groups at the end of the study; However, fewer complications were observed in the intervention group than in the control group.en_US
