Sinonasal polyposis is a chronic disease of nasal and paranasal sinus mucosa. Nasal polyps can be divided in two groups by inflammatory cells’ type: kinds of eosinophilic polyps and neutrophilic polyps. Eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis responds to corticosteroids, but this response is less in neutrophilic type. The aim of our study was to determine the frequency of inflammatory cell types in the polyp tissue of patients with diffuse sinonasal polyposis and its relation with factors affecting recurrence. Materials and Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study on 130 patients with diffuse sinonasal polyposis referring to ENT clinics of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Through a random sampling method. Severity of the disease assessed by SNOT_20 questioner that filled by the ENT surgeon. CT scans graded by Lund Mackay score. After hematoxillin-eosin staining and pathologist LM examination variety of cells determined then the result statistically evaluated and its association with previously known factors recurrence in other studies mentioned. Results: The most frequent cell was eosinophil and mast cell showed the smallest frequency of inflammatory cells in the polyps of patients with diffuse sinonasal polyposis. Eosinophilic polyp was more in female patients. There was no significant difference between inflammatory cells associated with age, history of previous surgery, and SNOT 20 score. A significant relationship was found only between Lund Mackay Score Neutrophil and Mast cell type polyp.en_US
