dc.description.abstractIntroduction: Pedestrians are the most vulnerable group of road users who suffer the most severe injuries in road traffic accidents than other road users. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate traffic behaviors and its relationship with the economic and social status of pedestrians in Marand - 2020. Methods and Materials:This study was a cross-sectional study conducted in Marand in 2020. all pedestrians in Marand city were the statistical population of this study that 515 pedestrians were included in the study as a sample. The instruments used in this study included a standard pedestrian behavior questionary in five dimensions (violation, distraction, positive behavior group 1& 2, aggressive) as well as a standard questionnaire of economic and social status. Were distributed to health centers and completed. The data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS software version 23 and Pearson, independent t-test and ANOVA. Results: Most participants in this study were male (67.6% of participants) and their mean age was 35.96 9 9.93. 39.4% of pedestrians had between 7 and 12 grades and 87.7% of the participants were married. According to the findings of this study, 49.9% of the participants in the study had moderate to high economic and social status that there was a significant relationship between positive and distracting behaviors of participants with their economic and social status. Also, according to the findings of this study, pedestrians had an average score of moderate traffic behavior. There was a significant relationship between the mean score of traffic behavior and also the dimension of distraction and positive behaviors of educational status. Was increasing. There was also a significant relationship between gender fear and the mean scores of pedestrian traffic behaviors that the mean scores of men were higher than women. Conclusion: This study showed that people with low economic and social status such as low literacy, and low-income jobs have poorer traffic safety behaviors. Therefore, in addition to applying prevention programs and training in traffic laws, according to demographic characteristics, we should focus on other factors, including economic and social factors, and in this regard, by providing justice and measures such as improving economic conditions, avoiding social isolation, job creation, and improving pedestrian traffic behaviors.
