Canine impaction causes numerous problems with the maxillary bones and dental occlusions. Among those people diagnosed with the sella turcica bridging on the early ages, it is highly required to monitor the canine growth accurately. The present study was conducted aiming at comparing the sella turcica morphology among the people with the maxillary canine's impaction and those with no impaction. Materials In this cross-sectional (descriptive – analytical) study, 72 CBCT images including 36 samples with impacted canine and 36 samples with no impaction selected from among the images taken from the people referred to the Department of Radiology, Tabriz Faculty of Dentistry, were investigated. The inclusion criteria were the age range of 13-27 years old, and the exclusion criteria were tumor suffering and occupying lesions, trauma, cleft lip and palate, supernumerary tooth, CBCT images with artifacts, history of orthodontic treatment and systemic diseases such as diabetes insipidus, etc. The study was conducted in the midsagittal and coronal sections with measuring 19 variables of sella turcica dimensions. Results were analyzed by SPSS v.20 and Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Results In both groups, i.e. with and without impacted canine, 9 variables of sella turcica dimensions were significantly different. Clinoid height (right, left, anterior), length of sella and depth of sella were the most important different indices. Number of sella turcica variables, as significantly different among the males and females, in the impacted group (6 variables) was higher than the non-impacted group (2 variables). Age affects significantly the sella turcica dimensions in both groups, i.e. with and without impacted canine. Conclusion Morphology of sella turcica is different among the people with the maxillary canine impactions and those without such impaction. The morphology of celatoresica varies between individuals with maxillary canine occlusion and those without occlusion.en_US
