dc.description.abstractAccording to another study, ARF in the intensive care unit affects 5-25% of patients and also increases mortality by 15-60%. Also, with increasing treatment costs and length of hospital stay, many problems Makes. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of N-acetylcysteine at a dose of 1800 mg on renal function in patients with acute renal failure due to burns. Materials and Methods: This study, which is a double-blind randomized clinical trial, has all the information needed for the study, including age, sex, history of previous illness, length of hospital stay, urea, creatinine, severity and extent of burns in patients with acute failure. Kidneys were collected. Sixty patients with acute renal failure due to burns were evaluated. Patients were randomly divided into 2 equal groups. The primary consequence was a decrease in patients' urea and creatinine levels. The secondary outcome of the patients was to evaluate the duration of hospitalization in these patients. Results: A total of 69 patients with renal insufficiency were studied, of which 7 (10.1%) died and 62 (89.9%) were alive. 31 patients in the intervention group (with NAC) and 31 cases in the control group (without NAC) were studied. The mean age of the patients was 35.66±9.68 years with a median of 37 years. The minimum age was 19 years and the maximum was 56 years. In terms of sex distribution, 32 patients (51.6%) were male and 30 patients (48.4%) were female. The mean percentage of burns in the studied patients was 14.56±3.66%. In the intervention and control groups, the mean serum creatinine level before and after the intervention was 2.79±0.69 mg/dl and 1.04±0.11 mg/dl, respectively; 2.86±0.67 mg/dl and 1.05±11.0 mg/dl. In the intervention and control groups, the mean serum urea level before and after the intervention was 54.58±10.17 mg / dl and 23.06±3.35 mg/dl, respectively; 54.80±9.49 mg/dl was and 22.22±3.34 mg/dl.en_US
