Cancer is referred to as a set of diseases that cause uninhibited cell proliferation. Cancer is usually induced by cell cycle regression and incomplete apoptosis due to activation of protoncogene and deactivation of tumor suppressor genes. Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignancies, the fourth and most common malignancy and the second leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Many factors including helicobacter pylori infection, unhealthy diet, smoking and obesity are involved in developing gastric cancer. Fis1 gene can be considered as a candidate in the study of mitochondrial pathway disorders by contributing a role in the fission and cleavage of mitochondria since it plays a role in the apoptotic mitochondrial pathway. Methods: In this study, 40 samples of tumor tissue and 40 samples of cancerous tumor were investigated. From the tissues required by the extraction kit (TRizol), we synthesized the RNA, since it was synthesized, and then we performed the Real Time PCR and performed the statistical analysis. Results: The results showed that the Fis1 protein has clearly increased in gastric cancer cells compared to the healthy tissue. The data showed that there was a clear link between levels of Fis1 and gastric cancer metastasis, considering the difference in its expression in patients with metastasis and without metastasis. But at the same time, the investigations showed that there was no clear relation between other clinic pathologic parameters including age, gender, helicobacter pylori and tumor differentiation with Fis1 expression.en_US
