dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of obstructive sleep apnea on the prognosis, improvement of complications and disabilities of stroke.
Material & Method: In this prospective cohort study, 125 patients with stroke admitted to Razi Hospital of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences were evaluated. Patients were divided into two groups according to Stop-bang risk of apnea. Then severity of disability (mRS), disease (NIHSS), duration of hospitalization and mortality were evaluated in the first days, discharge and 3-month follow-up. The data were analyzed by SPSS software version 23.
Results: 86.4% of patients had at least one risk factor for stroke. The most common risk factors for stroke included hypertension (61.6%) and diabetes (28.8%). Although hospitalization and mortality were higher in highrisk group, no significant difference was observed between them (P = 0.14, 0.55, respectively).
The course of NIHSS changes in the high-risk group was significantly different (P <0.01). The trend of NIHSS were significantly different in each group individually (P <0.01).
The course of mRS changes was similar in two groups (P = 0.73). The trend of mRS were significantly different in each group individually (P <0.01). | en_US |
