dc.description.abstractAbstract: Background and Aim: Education of patients, promotes their satisfaction and lead to improved quality of life. Most patients are referred to angiography do not have enough information about the procedure. And this lack of knowledge patients to be dissatisfaction patients. Accordingly the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of video education on knowledge and satisfaction of patients hospitalized for coronary angiography. Methods: In this quasi –experimental study 160 patients hospitalized for coronary angiography were randomly assigned into two groups: first control group (n=80) and second experimental group (n=80). For the experimental group was presented an educational film about the coronary angiography. And for the control group was presented the usual education of the ward. The data before and after intervention in both groups was measured and compared by the questionnaire included five sections: demographic data, knowledge, satisfaction, and Spiel Berger state anxiety questionnaire and sheet of hemodynamic variables. Then the data was analyzed by SPSS 13 with using chi square test, independent t –test, paired t –test and repeated measures analysis of variables. Significance level was considered pf less than 0.05. Result: The results showed that both groups regarding demographic characteristics with the exception of jobs were similar. Mean difference of knowledge score, patient satisfaction and anxiety after the intervention had a statistically significant difference between groups. And the results of repeated measures ANOVA showed that in both experimental and control groups changes in vital signs except for temperature indicator in the other cases has decreased over time. Conclusion: Results of this study confirmed effect of video education based on patient’s native language to increase knowledge and satisfaction and reduction of anxiety and changes in the vital signs in patient candidate for coronary angiography. Therefore the video education is recommended to education patients before invasive procedures.en_US
