The aim of this study was to compare the success rate of breastfeeding mothers in painless delivery (epidural anesthesia) with normal delivery. Materials and Methods: After the approval of the Ethics Committee of the Vice Chancellor for Research of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and obtaining written consent from nulliparous women and their husbands, in this cross-sectional study, mothers in two groups of painless delivery and normal delivery were evaluated to evaluate breastfeeding success. The samples included primiparous women who were hospitalized for 6 months in 29 Bahman and Taleghani hospitals and the conditions of natural childbirth were based on the diagnosis of the treating physician. The mother made her first attempt to breastfeed after giving birth and obtaining a stable hemodynamic status and obtaining suitable roommate conditions. The questionnaire was filled out by the midwife and registered by the student. Results: In this study, 200 mothers were studied, of which 100 mothers underwent painless delivery and 100 mothers underwent normal delivery. The mean age of mothers, income level, occupation, age of spouses, BMI and education of spouses were not significantly different between the two groups. Mean neonatal weight, neonatal age, first and fifth minute Apgar scores did not differ significantly between the two groups. In this study, the success rate in the first 24 hours of normal delivery was 58.5% high, 31% moderate and 10%. 5% was moderate. Also, in painless delivery, 57.5% had a high success rate, 34% had a moderate success rate, and 8.5% had a poor success rate. No significant correlation was found between successful breastfeeding in painless delivery and normal delivery. In this report, there was no significant relationship between success in breastfeeding in the first week of painless delivery and normal delivery. According to the results, there was no significant difference in the success rate of breastfeeding between painless and normal delivery in the sixth week after delivery.en_US
