dc.description.abstract | The present study was conducted to assess serum levels of IL-6 and IL-12 as well as expression of the related genes in an Iranian Azeri population and show the difference with healthy population.
Methods: 40 patients and 40 healthy control entered to study, Iranian Azeri patients with a recent onset non-affective psychosis were enrolled and healthy volunteers were matched by age and gender as controls. Peripheral blood was assessed to measure level of mRNA and serum level of IL-6 and IL-12. T and F tests were used for statistical analysis. P value < 0.05 was considered significant. SPSS 16 used as statistical measure.
Results: Patients with a recent onset psychosis had a significantly higher level of IL-6 mRNA expression compared to normal controls but this difference did not reach the significant level for IL-12. The same pattern was observed for serum levels of IL-6 and 12 | en_US |
