dc.description.abstractAbstract: Introduction: Although domestic violence can influence every member of the family, but women as a key person in the family and with a direct contact with husbands and children are at higher risk. Undoubtedly violence against pregnant women are major stressor for them. And it can influences pregnancy outcomes. This research was performed to determining: type, risk factors and pregnancy outcomes of violence in pregnant women in Tabriz. Methodology: This survey is a descriptive study which was performed on 260 women (in two groups) who were delivered in teaching hospitals of Tabriz in 2007. Data was collected by questionnaire driven of AAS & ISA. Content validity and test retest reliability was used. Results: This study indicated that mothers were at risk of domestic violence in pregnancy as well; including physical, sexual and psychological. The most common type was psychological 22.6%. In regard to risk factor of violence; relation between violence and education level in husband, domicile, kind of insurance, unwanted pregnancy, smoking, history of violence in husbands' family were significant (p<0.05). In regard to pregnancy outcomes; Difference between mean birth weights, mean weight gain in pregnancy and use of Iron and folic acid in pregnancy in two groups were significant (p<0.05). Discussion and Conclusion: The most common type of violence was psychological 25.6%. Finding of this study is consistent with the result of previous research regarding relation between violence and pregnancy outcomes. Therefore regard risk factor of violence in this study for promotion mothers' health in pregnancy period and improving pregnancy outcomes; recognition violence in pregnancy period recommended by health care provides.en_US
