Abstract: Introduction: Since 1948, when the World Health Organization defined health as being not only the absence of disease and infirmity but also the presence of physical, mental, and social well –being, quality of life issues have become steadily more important in health care practice and research. Families and especially women's contraceptive choice and use are largely influenced by their satisfaction with the specific method and its impact on their quality of life. Regarding contradictions about influences of most common contraceptive method on women's quality of life, the aim of study was to determine the impact of oral contraceptives on the women's quality of life. Materials and Methods: This research was a descriptive –comparative study. Quality of life scores was assessed and compared in 190 first users and 200 current users, of LD. Current users, started that in one years old. The scale included two components: 1 –demographic questionnaire and 2 –Persian version of the WHOQOL –BREF questionnaire for evaluation the quality of life. Subjects were recruited from all treating –health centers of Tabriz. Data was analyses using SPSS13. Results: The distribution of all demographic characteristics, including age, education, job… didn't have significant difference among groups. Except for physical domain, there was no significant difference in the scores obtained in two groups for other four domains and total score too. The physical domain score significantly was increased in current users rather than first users. Conclusion: regarding low dose oral contraception offer non contraceptive benefits, including improving cycle control and alleviation of menstrual –related complaints, as well as reducing acne, seborrhea, skin and hair problems, headache and other physical problems, it seems that improvement of physical domain in current study probably related to these benefits.en_US
