dc.description.abstractAbstract: Introduction: Patient’s dignity is the fundamental right of cancer patients. The nurses’ effective communication skills is the integral part of the care nurse - patient communication relationship of cancer patients, It seems that a good relationship with cancer patieshavea significant impact inpatients' dignity. The aims of this study were exploring cancer patient perceptions of respecting them and its relevance with the nurse - patient communication for maintaining their dignity Methods: This descriptive-correlational study conducted in Ghazi- Tabatabaei hospital of Tabriz. Samples of research were 250 cancer patients that were selected with available sampling method. For data collection used The Patient Dignity Inventory (PDI) that were score of 25 to125range. Also, instrument Questionnaires interaction quality nurse - patient views of patients, that isThescorevariesfrom24 to144. Data analysis using SPSS software descriptive and inferential statistics were performed. Results: the score of patients in three sub-scales of PDI including illness-related concerns, personal dignity, and social dignity were 74, 65 and 57, respectively (based on a total 100). Also, the mean verbal and nonverbal communication and public relation measured in three dimensions that were approximately at the same level. It’s correlations cores nurse – patient and dignity of patients using Pearson correlation test showed that there is a weak negative correlation between the two variables(r = - / 21 P = / 001), The higher the score, the relationship comes to the lower dignity and thus more respect for the dignity of patient striated . Conclusions: It's found in dissatisfactions and complaints of violations of dignity in hospital patients in all aspects of planning, in dictated the need fora coherent and continuous follow-up by managers and directors of nursing to provide services related to the disease, especially in the later concern, and maintaining dignity to promote understanding of patient’s dignity respectively. Since the nurse-patient relationships a known factor can be used to facilitate the communication skills of training programs for nurses caring for cancer patients based on these at us of useen_US
