Age of Menopause and Related Factors in Menopause's Women in Tabriz in 2004.

Abstract
Abstract: Background: Menopause is the cessation of menses resulting from the loss of ovarian function. Woman approaching the menopause can now be expected to live for many years; many women are living into their eighties a beyond. It is therefore becoming increasingly important for women that in the post-menopausal years to be as health as those before the menopause. The menopausal period is associated with a significant increase in the incidence of medical conditions such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, understanding the related factors to the age of menopause are important. So, this study investigated the age of menopause and related factors in menopauses women in Tabriz. Methods and Materials: This is a descriptive analytic study, on 400 menopausal women in Tabriz who had characteristics of researching samples, they have been selected by clustering method. The data collected by questionnaire including 3 sections (lifestyle, contraceptive method, obstetric medical history). Data were analyzed by using SPSS/win 11 and descriptive statistics and also egression of statistical. Results: The mean age of menopause for the whole population was 47.63 ±4.94 years. Multiple regression analysis failed to determine a statistically significant relation between the being eyed, use of hormonal contraceptive, Tubectomy, age at menarche, the regular or irregular of menstrual cycle, history of chronic diseases and menopause age. Whereas according to statistic findings, there was a statistically significant relation between age at menopause of the mother and menopause age (p<0.001). By according to another important finding of this research the relation between BMI and menopause age was meaningful (p=0.03). Conclusion: There are statistically significant relationship between women's BMI, their mother's age of menopause and women menopause age. The mean age of menopause in Tabriz is less than the international reports.
