dc.description.abstractAbstract Background: Cancer is a major health problem in the world, and all cancer patients and their family members, many challenges in their lifetime. In fact, cancer patients have a significant impact on performance and Family members of those sets. One of these effects, the financial distress is the result of diagnosis and treatment costs. Financial distress in cancer patients is of most importance in less-considered. The aim of this study was to assess the financial stress and its impact on the hope and efficacy in patients with cancer. Materials and Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was undertaken among 262 cancer patients admitted to both private and public hospitals in East-Azerbaijan province, Iran. Financial distress using a questionnaire (Distress / Financial Well Being Scale) variable hope by questionnaires hope (Hope Hearth) and self-efficacy variable using a questionnaire (Cancer Behavior Inventory) were evaluated. Data analysis using SPSS software using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (multiple linear regression) was performed. Results: Among the 262 cancer patients, 57/3 percent were male and the mean age of the sample was 47/40 years old The final regression model demonstrated that the independent variables (predictors) of income less than living expense, income equal to living expense, having an employed spouse in governmental jobs, and living with parents with regression coefficients of-1.029,-0.515,0.198,0.096, respectively, were predictors of financial distress among cancer patients. These variables were accounted for 50% of changes in variance of financial distress. The results showed that cancer patients have no relationship between hope and financial distress (p = 0.65). The results showed that financial distress is directly not related to the self-efficacy of cancer patients. Conclusion: Iranian patients with cancer have moderate to high levels of financial stress. Therefore, it is necessary measures to reduce direct and indirect costs on the lives of cancer patients think. The financial distress in Iranian patients with cancer, hope and self-efficacy no impact on patientsen_US
