dc.description.abstractAbstract: Introduction: diaper dermatitis is the common skin disorder in the infanthood period that causes to anxiety of the infants and their parents. This study was conducted in order to compare the efficiency of the topical chamomile ointment and calendula ointment on the improvement of diaper dermatitis of the infants suffering from gastroenteritis. Method: in a double blind clinical examination 90 infants under one year who were hospitalized due to suffering from diaper dermatitis with the required measures were divided into two groups of chamomile ointment group(n=45) and calendula ointment (n=45)randomly. The infants in both groups were traded these ointments four times in a day for one week and rehire improvement was examined from intensity and severity by using a checklist in the first, third and seventh days. The dated were analyzed by software SPSS version 16 and multifactor analysis of variance and X2 tests. Results: the results of the study showed significant difference from intensity. (p=0/39) and extensity (p=0/04) and improvement time (p<0/001) between two groups. Time the improvement speed was high (4/46 days) in chamomile group relative to calendula (5/82 day).during the study no side effects of the drug were observed. Conclusion: the results showed that the improvement severity of diaper dermatitis was rapid and better in chamomile ointment than calendula ointment. So chamomile ointment can be used in treatment of diaper dermatitis.en_US
