Gastric cancer is the fifth common cancer and the third deadliest in the world. Changes in the genes which are involved in cell cycle, apoptosis and angiogenesis, play critical roles in cancer progression. VEGF-A and Angiopoietin 2 are two of the most important regulators of angiogenesis and their gene expressions are regulated by miR-126 and miR-30. Docosahexaenoic acid is a supplement which is suitable for the prevention of some cancers. In this study, we determined the effect of DHA on expression of VEGF-A and Angiopoietin 2 in gastric cancer cell line. Methods: We cultivated MKN-45 cell line of gastric adenocarcinoma in RPMI-1640, then we measured the effective dose of DHA by MTT. After 24h treatment with 100micromole DHA and 18.5 micromole Docetaxel, we evaluated our target genes expression level by real time PCR. Results: Treatment of cells with DHA lead to changes in the expression of the genes. Combination of DHA and Docetaxel extremely downregulated the expression of Angiopoietin 2 and upregulated the expression of VEGF-A. This combination causes the less increase of miR-126 and miR-30 expression in comparison to treatment with only Docetaxel.en_US
