Comparison of the Level of Job Satisfaction among Midwives Working at Health Centers and Hospitals with Private offices in Tabriz 2002.

Abstract

Abstract: Introduction: The level of midwives' job satisfaction, is of paramount importance, especially as the main role in midwifery is provision of care to two vulnerable groups in society, ie mothers and babies. However, there are limited studies in this area. Therefore, the researcher decided to investigate the level of midwives' job satisfaction. Material and method: This is a descriptive analytic study, which has examined the job satisfaction of 290 midwives in Tabriz. Questionnaires were used for data collection. Descriptive statistics (frequencies, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (ANOVA) were used for data analysis. Results: The study showed that 78/3% of subjects were dissatisfied with their job. The comparison of four groups showed statistically significant difference in job satisfaction (p=0.05).midwives working at health centers and hospitals are more dissatisfied with their job than other groups. Discussion: The results showed that level of job satisfaction of midwives is low. The influential factors consist of management, job security, and income. Therefore, in order to increase the level of midwives' job satisfaction, it is important for the responsible authorities to pay attention to these issues.
