The Knowledge of Medical Sciences Students regarding AIDS and its Relationship with their Attitude, Mashhad, 1993

Abstract

Abstract: A correlational survey was conducted in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences to evaluate the medical and paramedical student's knowledge on AIDS and correlate their scores with their attitude towards this diseases. 140 senior students of medicine, dentistry, nursing midwifery and laboratory sciences took part, because of frequent shift changes and class schedules selection of a systematic random sample was not possible. To gather the data first a knowledge test was given, and immediately after the collection of answer sheets their attitudes were tested. In details, the tool was consisted of three parts. Part one inquired certain personal characteristics part, two was designed to test the subjects' knowledge on ALDS (etiology, transmission routes, preventive measures, treatment and nursing care). Part three address 15 phrases regarding subjects, attitude regarding acquiring H.I.V infection: the findings are presented in 27 tables further descriptive and in feral statistics were employed to estimate correlations between the variables. In this study T test, x2, Pearson correlation and Chopper off tests were employed.
