dc.description.abstractAbstract: Objective, Design: To identify the important of the needs of families of critically ill patients, this descriptive study was guided by the theoretic model of interaction of patient, family, and nurse. Setting, Subjects, Instruments: 25 family members and 25 critical care nurses of three critical care units of a large teaching Medical Center were asked to complete the Critical Care Family Needs Inventory. Results, Conclusions: Also family member's and nurses identified many similar important needs, such as the need to have questions answered honestly, the need to feel three was hope, U Mann –Whitney tests showed significant differences between two groups perceptions of importance of 30 (69.76%) of critical care family needs studied. Therefore, it appears that these nurses were not accurate in their assessments of critical care family needs. Implications for nursing practice, education, and research were identified and discussed.en_US
