Abstract: This research is a quasi –experimental study, which has been performed in order to investigate the effects of endotracheal suction duration on arterial oxygen saturation in brain ICU patients in Imam Khomeini educational and treatment center of Tabriz in 1995. It is consists of one goal and five special objectives which are about effect of 11- 15 second, 6 -10 second and lower than 5 second suction duration on arterial oxygen saturation rate. In this research 15 patient intubated with brain problem (brain tumor, brain trauma) which have admitted in brain ICU ward chosen. The sampling method was purposive sampling. The data were collected through observational and measurement method, and demographic data were collected through review of patient's records. In order to achieve the research objectives descriptive and inferential statistics have been used. Results have been presented on 23 tables. The findings of this study showed with 95% confidentiality that suction duration can influence arterial oxygen saturation, but did not exited arterial oxygen saturation in normal range (92% -97%). At the end researcher has recommended for implicating the finding for further researches on the bases of results of research. Hoping to help a little advance in performing better nursing for patients with brain problem.en_US
