Teachers' Knowledge and Attitude regarding Breast Self-examination in High Schools, Khoy, 1996.

Abstract

Abstract: Introduction: This research is a descriptive study about teacher’s knowledge and attitude of breast self-examination in high schools Khoy city, all of the teachers were the subjects of this study. Methods: The questionnaire used for this research consisted of three parts. First part consisted of certain personal characteristics, the second part designed to test the subject’s knowledge (risk factors of breast cancer and breast self- examination), and the third part addressed 20 statement surveying the attitudes of the subjects on breast self- examination. Results: The findings are presented in 22 tables. Further descriptive and deductive statistics were employed. In this study chi- square and fisher exact test were employed, to estimate correlation between knowledge and attitude of the subjects. The findings showed that 63.68% of participants obtained moderate knowledge about breast self- examination. Also findings showed that participants have positive attitude regarding the breast self- examination. There was not significant correlation between knowledge of the subjects and attitudes. Finally, the report discusses the application of achieved results in different fields of midwifery and offers some suggestions to future investigations on the topic.
