dc.description.abstractIntroduction: The growth of various microorganisms under the base of prostheses, resulting in inflammation and infections such as candidiasis, is common. The aim of the present study was to investigate the antifungal properties of ozone-enriched water with nystatin on the growth of Candida albicans on a baked acrylic plate. Materials and Methods: In this laboratory study, 126 acrylic plate samples were first prepared. Fungal suspension was prepared using standard PTCC5027 strain of Candida albicans. After sterilization, the plates were placed in fungal suspension and then placed in plastic in an incubator at 35 ° C for two hours. Then all plates were randomly divided into three groups: normal saline (42 samples), nystatin group (42 samples) and ozone group (42 samples). The plates were examined by three disinfection methods in six time intervals of one, five, ten, twenty, forty, sixty and one hundred and twenty minutes (7 samples at each time).In the ozone group, the household ozone generator (ARDA) model MHP 1H was used. Finally, at the end of each time, a colony was counted. The results were analyzed using SPSS17 software and Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: In the nystatin group, a significant decrease in colony was observed over time, so that it reached zero in 40 minutes.In the ozone group, a significant decrease in the number of colonies was observed over time, so that it reached almost zero in 120 minutes. In the normal saline group, no significant difference was observed in the number of colonies during 120 minutes. Conclusion: A home ozone machine can produce the right concentration of ozone to disinfect acrylic plates and disinfect acrylic base plates in 120 minutes.en_US
