In our study we aimed to evaluate the effect of levels HPG axis hormones in postmenopausal women admitted to ICU on the outcome and possible correlations between the disease severity with these hormones. Methods: In this prospective study, 40 postmenopause women admitted to ICU for non-surgical causes were selected. Disease severity due to SOFA score in day one and five and APACHE II score (only in day one) as well as hormone levels of HPG axis including FSH, LH and other hormones such as cortisol, prolactin, estradiol, TSH and FT4 in day one and five were measured. The possible correlations were evaluated. Results: There was significantly direct correlation between APACHE II score and SOFA score day one (r=0.526, p<0.001) and day five (r=0.405, p=0.009). Also there was reverse correlation between SOFA score day one with FSH level (r=-0.373, p=0.01) and inverse correlation between SOFA score day five with FSH levels (r=-0.448, p=0.004) and LH (r=-0.465, p=0.003) and positive direct correlation with estradiol (r=0.433, p=0.005) and cortisol (r=0.371, p=0.01).en_US
