dc.description.abstractAbstract: Introduction: The weight gain desirable during pregnancy has been the subjects of much controversy and numerous studies. In 1990 the Institute of medicine recommend weight- specific guidelines for weight gain during pregnancy. Weight gain has become a very conscious of most women’s pregnancies and birth weight is an important indicator in maternity care, then is necessary investigation about weigh gain status pregnant women and relationship with newborn weight gain desirable in pregnancy. Materials & Methods: This is descriptive study on 203 women referred to healthy and medical centers of Tabriz randomized sampling. Data collecting instrument was one check list. To analyzing data investigator has used analysis of variance and liner regression. Results: The results has shown that 53.7 of women in this sample were less gains the institute of medicine rangers, 32% gained weight within the Institute of medicine recommended ranges and 14.3% gains above the Institute of medicine range. Significant difference was found between weight gain pattern in this sample with the Institute of Medicine recommended pattern (p=0.024). Also significant associations were found between pregnancy weight gain women of average BMI with newborn weight and size p<0.05. But there was no significant association in women of low; high and obese BMI. Discussion & Conclusion: In summary the findings of this study have shown that must more weight gain ti underweight and averring women and high and obese women would lose weight and average women and high and obese women would lose weight before conception. Also women must to refer to healthy center regularly.en_US
