Abstract: Introduction: regarding bewildering advance in electronic technology this tool can be utilized in education and learning. An experimental study was conducted to investigate the effects of two different educational methods (computer simulation and traditional method) on the nursing student learning of knowledge and performance vital signs measurement. Methods and materials :the data gathering tool was a questionnaire consisting of multiple choice questions and a performance checklist .all the first year nursing students of the nursing & midwifery faculty of Tabriz participated in knowledge and performance pretest. On the basis of pretest rates, the students were randomly divided into two similar groups, and then these two groups were randomly assigned to group one and two received education on vital signs measurement procedure in three sessions and under approximately the same conditions whit computer simulation and traditional method respectively. In the fourth session, all the students of the two groups took the knowledge and performance posttest. Results: nonparametric sign and Mann -Whitnery test results showed that, although the students of the two groups compared whit the pretest had significant progression in knowledge and performance posttest rates. There was no significant difference in knowledge and performance posttest rates between groups one and two. This means that the educational methods have caused equivalent and positive progression in the student knowledge and performance. Conclusion: these findings support the computer simulation method education as an independent educational strategy resulting in learning progression equivalent to the traditional method in nursing students or at least as an effective complementary for it.en_US
