dc.description.abstract | : There are various dressings available for the treatment of skin grafts, but some of them are very expensive and not available. Vaseline gauze and mupirocin 2% and nitrofurazone are now available and cost benefit. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare these three dressing methods.
Methods: Ninety six adult patients with burns of less than 20% and second or third-degree of burning were divided into three equal groups. The site of skin graft donor was dressed by three methods of Vaseline gauze (group A), mupirocin 2% (group B) and nitrofrazone (group C), then the duration of epithelization, infection, pain and treatment cost were compared in three groups.
Results: Epithelization duration was significantly higher in group A than group B and group C (P <0.05). However, no significant difference was found between the two groups B and C (P <0.05). There was no significant difference between the infections and the amount of pain in patients during rest, dressing and dressing time in all three groups (P <0.05). The cost of dressing for the skin graft donor was significantly lower in group A than group B and group C (P <0.05) and in group C was significantly lower than group B (P <0.05). | en_US |
