dc.description.abstractIntroduction:Pulp protection and tooth life are very important in restorative treatments. Nowadays, pulp and dentin regeneration by using biocompatible materials have been considered in dentistry. The aim of this study was to compare the pulp response following direct pulp capping with nanohydroxyapatite-lactoferrin (NHA + LF), nanohydroxyapatite and MTA. Materials and methods:This study was performed in the form of Splite Mouth. 12 Wistar rats (6 females and 6 males) aged 8-10 weeks and weighing 200-250 g were included in the study. In the first group (n=6 rats) was used MTA in the one molar and NHA + LF in the other. In the second group (6 rats), was used NHA in one molar and NHA + LF in the other. Then histological evaluation of prepared tissue from the jaws of mice was performed with a light microscope. Data were analyzed by SPSS 20 statistical software. The results were reported descriptively (frequency, mean, median and standard deviation). Results:The results of the present study showed that there was no significant difference in the presence or absence of inflammation between NHA + LF and MTA samples. The frequency of odontoblastic layer was similar in NHA + LF and MTA and NHA + LF and NHA. The frequency of hard tissue bridge appearance in NHA + LF samples was slightly lower than MTA samples, but this value was not statistically significant. Conclusion: The combination of NHA + LF in direct capping of rat pulp causes repair and formation of dentinal bridge similar to MTA and NHA materials. Also, the rate of inflammation and the severity of inflammation are similar to these substances, and therefore its application in human studies can be tested and studied.en_US
