dc.description.abstractThis study aimed to assess the current situation of school girls awareness, attitudes, and practices toward menstruation Method: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted in schools in the west region of Tabriz. From all grades, 503 schoolgirls participated in the study. Data were acquired during their annual visits in the health centers.based on the objectives of the study. A descriptive analysis was conducted using SPSS v25. Results: Students from the fifth grade to tenth grade participated in the study; mothers were the most accepted source for information regarding menstruation, and teachers were not very popular in this regard. Being a daughter to a mother that has at least finished high school was related to better-declared knowledge of maturation. (p=0.008). From 313 girls with a history of menarche,88.16% were ashamed about others finding out their menstruation state, and there was no statistically significant difference between primary school middle school and high school girls(p=0.069). Overall assessment of menstrual hygiene was good; most of the schoolgirls used sanitary pads(97.75%), bath frequently(82.25%), and discarded their used pads in an acceptable hygienic way(86.19%).en_US
