dc.description.abstractThe aim of current study was to evaluate the long-term outcome of synthetic mesh use in the treatment of women with genital prolapse. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 153 women (mean age of 53.66±9.31 years) with POP treated with synthetic mesh by vaginal surgery method were evaluated. Demographic findings, POP grade, treatment outcome and complications during follow-up were recorded. Patients were followed for 36.89±11.33 months. Results: POP grade was improved in most patients after surgery and prolapse relapse occurred in 5 cases (3.3%). Before surgery, patients’ common findings were frequency and then urge and stress incontinence and urgency. Subjective outcome were vaginal pain (13.7%), dyspareunia (9.2%) and tension feeling (8.5%) and objective outcomes were mesh exposure (3.9%), urge incontinence (11.1%) and infection (1.3%). comparing the results before and after surgery, there was significant improvement in dyspareunia (p<0.001), vaginal pain (p<0.001) and urge incontinence (p<0.001). stress incontinence was completely treated following surgery. In 88.42 of patients, there was good to excellent satisfaction from treatment.en_US
