Low back pain is one of the most common diseases in different societies around the world. Due to the association of stress coping methods and lifestyle with severity of pain and dysfunction, we aimed to run a cross-sectional study to investigate the relationship between stress coping methods and healthy lifestyles with severity of pain and dysfunction in patients with chronic low back pain. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 123 patients with chronic low back pain, who referred to the physical medicine and rehabilitation clinics of Imam Reza teaching center during 2018-2019, were studied. For all samples, a four-part checklist consisted of demographic, disease, and nutritional information; pain severity and dysfunction (Oswestry questionnaire); stress coping strategies (CSQ questionnaire) and health-promoting lifestyle (HPLS questionnaire) completed. The total score was then calculated for each part of checklist. Results: In this study, 123 patients with a mean age of 47.5±11.8 years old were included. Fot study samples, the mean total score of functional dysfunction was 23.4±6.5, problem-centered strategies was 35.6±5.3, emotion-focused strategies was 65.9±18.4 and healthy lifestyle was 91.3±20.2. Increases in the score of emotion-focused style for coping with stress were significantly associated with increses in the scores of severity of pain and dysfunction. There was no significant relationship between problem-oriented style of coping with stress and severity of pain and dysfunction. Also, with increasing life style score, the severity of pain severity of functional dysfunction was significantly reduced.en_US
